Cockles

Cockles -

An English shellfish, imported cooked in small flat cans. When taken from the can, they are washed thoroughly in cold water, frizzled in butter and served hot on toast - or in rice, curried, etc. Cockles are new to the American public, and, unless the housewife is warned to wash them thoroughly, they will not be appreciated.
